Blues heritage

Blues is the root of all western modern music. It has a remarkable heritage from slavery and the cotton fields of the US right through to its status as a global movement for change. The revitalisation of the genre in the UK in the 50’s and its current ‘what is blues’ status all play into a complex and rich history.

So the heritage of British Blues is very important to us and working with The British Blues Archive, now amalgamated with the UK Blues Federation, and Alan White’s EarlyBlues.org, we would encourage you to visit our unparalleled History of Blues online educational resource where you will find articles, essays, memories and memorabilia; recommended British blues history books and references to other websites. This resource is constantly being updated and added to and is frequently used as an important reference source for academics and researchers from around the World.
