UKBlues Fuse - NW

Bringing together new artists and enthusiasts across your region

The UKBlues Federation are excited to announce the first of many events in our new ‘Emerging Artist’ initiative, to raise the profile of regional emerging artists. It hopes, as a platform and mentor, it will provide a rung, on the all too difficult ladder,

The first of these sessions is taking place at THE BIG HOUSE BLUES BAR in Darwen Lancashire, on Friday 29th November 2019 and three talented bands from the Northwest have been invited to take part.

This venture will be rolled out to other areas of the UK during 2020 with the aim to publicise up and coming, but 'under the radar' bands/artists and provide them with opportunities to perform in out of area clubs, venues and festivals.

Tickets £8 in adv - £10 on the door
The bands performing at The Big House Blues Bar are:
GOOD FOXY - Clitheroe, Lancs - indie, psychedelic rock blues
HEAD HUNTERS BLUES BAND - Liverpool, Merseyside - Delta blues
J-BEAR & THE GIANTS - Burnley, Lancs - blues, soul, funk

Good Foxy are a group of boyhood friends from Clitheroe, who began their lives as musicians in the Summer of 2013. With over 500 gigs under their belt they have gone from strength to strength without the backing of a record label.

Trying to pin down Good Foxy’s influences is a challenge; their music takes inspiration from classic artists such as Cream, The Beatles and The Doors whilst also sounding current alongside artists…Tame Impala, White Denim, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and Kurt Vile amongst many others.

Their gigs are no less eclectic, performing small intimate acoustic gigs through to supporting Status Quo in front of a 10,000 strong audience. Diverse festival appearances over the years have included slots at festivals such as; The Great Escape, YNot, Kendal Calling, Beatherder, Truck, Cloudspotting and The Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival.

After a successful debut album ‘Good Foxy’, followed by a clutch of singles and an EP, the band is presently finishing work on their second album due for a summer release 2019. Their reputation now ranks among the Northern music scene's most impressive, animated live acts.

Formed in late 2015, The Head Hunters Blues Band quickly became one of the most notorious blues bands on the North West club scene with a no compromise attitude to playing "nothin' but killer blues" building a reputation across their home town of Liverpool and the region.

2019 started with a bang with ‘Back From The Delta’, an album of songs from old and some almost forgotten delta blues artists, reworked to an electric / Chicago sound, that was released with critical acclaim. They also saw a mini tour in the UK, and Europe and played a couple of London's most prestigious venues - The Troubadour and The Tuesday Night Music Club.

For now The Head Hunters Blues Band continue with local shows and residencies but look forward to more runs in the UK and Europe.

From the Lancashire Delta, J-Bear & The Giants combine the raw sound of Chicago electric blues with the sweet soulful tones of Motown, to funk and heavy rock.  "The Burnley Beasts" also play an array of Blues classics from the likes of Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Etta James, Freddie King as well as a taking a few twists and turns from some popular modern artists.

As a live act they have great charisma and ooze with talent from Jossy’s vocal tones to ‘no frills’ guitar playing.

Their debut album ‘Reedley Hallows’ was warmly received, with an eclectic mix of music that keeps the interest.  It will be a great evening from this talented emerging band.
